Thailand entry guide - 2026

Onward ticket for Thailand

Short answer

Thailand requires proof of onward travel - a flight out of the country within your permitted stay - for visa-exempt entry and visa on arrival. Airlines enforce it at check-in because they are liable if you are refused entry, so travelers are sometimes asked for it before boarding to Bangkok (BKK) or Don Muang (DMK). The safest proof is a real, airline-verifiable reservation: a genuine PNR you can confirm yourself on the airline's own Manage Booking page, rather than a static PDF that may not be live in the system.
